Vishing: Voice phishing or Vishing, is the use of telephony to conduct phishing attacks, Landline telephone services have traditionally been trustworthy; terminated in physical locations known to the telephone company, and associated with a bill player.

" The person that called me claimed to be from the ICICI Bank and said that as the bank couldn't track my transaction details, they will issue me a new card but I needed to give the last 8 digits of my card and the expiry. The caller tried to charge me with the fake details I gave but got frustrated and asked me for the entire 16 digits of my card " - Sidharta Shukla

Prevention

#1 Verify unexpected phone request

Use an official directory another phone to call the company's main office and ask to speak with the caller who is making the request.

#2 Be very suspicious

Beware any caller who asks you to share login information over the phone.

#3 Report it if necessary

If the caller asks you to provide account data or personally identifiable information, refuse to do so and report the contact to security

#4 Don't be afraid to refuse

Security won't call you to request that you change logins, passwords, or network settings. Any caller who makes this type of request is probably a scammer. Refuse the request and notify security.
